What Isn’t Measured Can’t Be Managed

Management thinker Peter Drucker’s most quoted line is also the most brutal:

> **What gets measured gets managed.**

The corollary is equally true: **what isn’t measured never gets managed.**

Rent has an invoice, so you benchmark and renegotiate. Material costs have a ledger, so you shop suppliers. Missed inquiries, however, leave no paper trail—you don’t even know they happened. No-shows spark a day’s anger but vanish from the monthly roll-up. Repeat-client churn is the quietest leak of all; every lost client slips away without a word.

**The three-stage leakage pattern: invisible → unmanaged → chronic loss.**

Breaking the cycle doesn’t start with buying software; it starts with running the numbers.
