Rescheduling Isn’t an Anomaly—It’s Normal Flow

Appointment-based businesses often fall into a blind spot: treating rescheduling as an “anomaly” to be minimized.

In medical aesthetics and dental clinics, the reality is different: **rescheduling is normal flow.** Treatments are booked 2–4 weeks ahead, patient lives are unpredictable, and treatments require spacing—rescheduling is inevitable, and the volume is stable.

Treating normal flow as an anomaly has consequences: clinics design no process for it (each call is handled ad hoc), the person executing it is whoever picks up the phone, and the released capacity is wasted (empty slots go unfilled).

The correct design mindset: **build a dedicated lane for rescheduling.** Like highway ramps aren’t flaws in the road—they’re part of the road design.
